Great Summer in SIBERIA
We have had a wonderful summer in Siberia!! We returned to Russia on May 18 and we still haven’t finished unpacking!! We had some work done to our apartment and we still have a couple closets to finish. We did get the first coat of paint on the girls’ room, and hope that things will slow down now so that we can finish that before we start school!
VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL
Preparation and holding 4 weeks of VBS has been the plan for the summer. We held VBS in Krasnoyarsk, Elita, Atamanova and Shila. We have 2 students with us this summer, Matt Killingsworth and Hannah Crawford. They helped with the preparation and with games. Matt Northcutt was in charge of VBS planning. We used the Olympics as our theme, and the kids got actual medals for their participation during the week.
In Krasnoyarsk, we had an Olympic torch in the auditorium and an inflatable maze (borrowed) outside. We used the maze in the villages and it was a GREAT tool!! We hope to buy an inflatable for the ministries by next summer.
We helped missionary David Sterling with their village VBS, and then moved to the village of Atamanova, where we have one of our church families living and working with the church there. We had 22 attend over the week. The next week was in Shila. The kids came early and were ready for the lessons 5 minutes before the official start time!! We had 14 kids the last day.
We have started a new Sunday school program in Atamanova and Shila as a result of the good attendance. The Antonyan family (from Krasnoyarsk, living in Atamanova) and the Northcutts are working together in Atamanova. The Deans are working in Shila. We are praying for a new family to move to Shila to work with the ministry.
Prayer Requests:
- New Sunday school programs in Atamanova and Shila
- Andre & Nadia (Atamanova) Not attending services
- Inflatable for the youth ministry (about $2000)
- Family to move to Shila
Praise:
Brianna (our youngest - 5 years old) made a profession of faith!!
